Programs & Services

The Maryland School for the Blind (MSB) works with students whose unique needs cannot be fully met within their local education systems. Through community-based programs and comprehensive on-campus programs—offered on both a day and weekday residential basis—MSB serves children and young adults from birth through age 21 who are blind or have low vision, including many with multiple disabilities.

At MSB, students receive a strong foundation in general education while also benefiting from specialized instruction tailored to their individual needs. Our program emphasizes the Expanded Core Curriculum, including braille literacy, orientation and mobility, career education, and independent living skills—ensuring students gain the tools, confidence, and independence needed to thrive in school, work, and life.
