A Clearer Way to Share Our Story
A new look. A clearer story. The same purpose: helping students engage more fully and confidently wherever life happens.
The Maryland School for the Blind is introducing a new brand that better reflects who we are today: a dynamic, statewide education partner and learning community.
MSB serves students who are blind or have low vision, including those with additional disabilities. We also partner with the families, educators and schools that support them.
Our new brand gives us a clearer way to show how instruction, lived experience, specialized expertise and coordinated support work together for students across Maryland.

Why MSB Has a New Brand
MSB is known and trusted by the students, families, educators and partners closest to our work. Beyond those communities, awareness is more limited, and our full statewide role is not always understood.
The new MSB brand helps us build broader awareness and share a more complete story – one that reflects learning on campus, in communities and through partnerships across Maryland.
It changes how we tell our story, not who we are.
Learning and Life Work Together
At MSB, learning is not separated from life. It happens in classrooms and through technology, recreation, relationships, new environments and everyday opportunities to try, adapt and try again.
By connecting instruction with lived experience, students build confidence, agency, self-direction and skills they can use wherever life happens.
Four Principles Guide Our Work
Foster belonging. Students are understood, connected and confident showing up as themselves.
Teach to learn. Classroom instruction and everyday experiences reinforce one another.
Build integrated support. Faculty, staff, families, educators, tools and experiences work together as students’ needs and goals evolve.
Encourage exploration. Students experience new environments, meet challenges, learn, adapt and expand their worlds.
What Is New – and What Is Not
MSB’s refreshed visual identity includes an updated wordmark, color palette, typography, photography, digital and print materials, and a distinct identity for MSB Athletics. Together, these elements create a connected and recognizable way for MSB to show up across Maryland.
Our name, mission, expertise, programs, services and commitment to students and families are not changing. Neither are our partnerships with educators and school systems.
The look is new. Our purpose remains the same: to help students engage more fully and confidently wherever life happens.

Built by Listening
The brand grew from listening sessions with staff, students, families and leadership, along with interviews with external partners and board members.
The same themes came through clearly:
- MSB is more than a school.
- Learning is part of everyday life.
- Belonging and high expectations matter.
- MSB’s impact extends far beyond campus.
In many ways, the brand was already here. The new identity gives it a clearer, more consistent expression.
See the Brand in Action
The new identity will appear across our website, publications, events, digital communications, campus spaces and athletics.
Whether someone connects with MSB through a program, campus visit, online resource or statewide partnership, the experience should feel clear, connected and distinctly MSB.
