Volunteers make all the difference in the world.
Each year, hundreds of special people like you donate thousands of hours to the students at MSB. Volunteers help out in the classrooms, read stories to students, take them to off-campus doctor appointments, assist them at mealtimes, accompany them on field trips and give ongoing support to our staff that is very much needed and very much appreciated. According to a formula developed by the U.S. government, the time, talents, and energy given by MSB volunteers this year is valued at $103,500. Our students and staff say it's priceless.
This year alone, 120 volunteers donated 15,000 hours of their time! We couldnt do all that we do without them.
Volunteers are as young as six and can do just about anything. Youll receive just as much if not more than you give. Volunteers are needed throughout the entire school year and during the summer. Days and hours are flexible to meet the needs of your schedule and you do not need any training
we will help you to help us! There are many ways for you to volunteer:
Classroom Aides Work directly with students in their classrooms by reading them books, helping them complete an assignment or showing them how to use a computer.
Dormitory Aides Assist students in the evening with meal preparation, homework or participating in a leisure activity such as going to the movies or grocery store.
Drivers Take students off-campus for doctor or other necessary appointments.
Field Trip Leader Accompany students and staff on visits to the theater, museum, park or local library.
Clerical Support Person Answer phones, do filing, typing, photocopying, faxing or other light office work.
Dining Room Assistant Help students help themselves at meal times in the MSB dining room.
Grounds Crewperson Work outdoors in the beautiful sensory garden, water the lush plants and flowers all around campus or trim trees and bushes.
Recreation Assistant Attend club meetings with students (Boy Scouts, Art Club, Magic Club) to help them work on special projects and plan events such as plays and art shows
Peer Helper - Younger volunteers can help our students with class work or play games with students during leisure time.
