Summer Program

Students participating in the Summer Outreach Program have an opportunity for educational activities focusing on needs unique to the visually impaired student, as well as socialization opportunities that are necessary to all students.  Participation in the program helps keep these students in their home school districts by providing the unique skills they need to be successful. Many times these skills are not addressed in the regular school program due to competing priorities with the academic program.

Each year the specific content of the Outreach Summer Program varies slightly based upon enrollment. Instructional activities are designed to provide:

-Career education and self-advocacy training for middle and high school age students.
-Lessons in skills of daily living for middle and high school age students.
-Lessons in recreational, social, and leisure skills for ages 7-12.
-Enhanced organizational and communication skill training, including braille.
-Orientation and mobility instruction.
