Family & Student Support Services

The Maryland School for the Blind’s Family Support Services’ goal is to provide support, information and resources on disabilities and community services for families of children with visual impairment.

Services are designed to:

-Inform families about available resources
-Build working relationships among families, schools and the community
-Provide learning opportunities through workshops and conferences
-Increase parent involvement
-Collaborate with other departments to develop parent support groups & activities
-Provide information through our Reaching Out newsletter
-Loan books and videos to families from our lending library 

A few topics available in our lending library are:

-Books for Children

-Books on Communication
-Books on DeafBlindness
-Books on Education
-Books on Early Childhood Development
-Books on Family


Teen Tuesdays

Every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month

Teen Tuesday is an outreach program for independent teens with a visual impairment, who attend their community schools



Workshops

The 2012 Family Short Course Weekend will be held at MSB on March 9-11
