The Maryland School for the Blind's (MSB) health services is staffed by nurses who are experienced in pediatrics. Nurses are on duty whenever students are on campus which is 24 hours per day starting when students arrive Sunday evening until students leave on Friday after school. Dr. Debbie Badawi is our full time Medical Director. She is a Developmental/Behavioral Pediatrician. She is on call to the nursing staff 24 hours per day. Lucille Beveridge, RN is our clinical coordinates the clinical practice of the health center. Dennis Draper, RN is director of the overall health services focused mostly on the administrative piece.

Members of the health services staff strive to work cooperatively with the student, family, community healthcare provider and other team members to meet the student's health care needs.

Our staff offer a variety of services. There are two doctor-run clinics each week administering to acute distress (colds, ear aches and other acute ailments) for students . The nurses have three clinics per day, also administer to a triage of acute (and if necessary referred to Dr. Badawi) and chronic ailments which typically are referred to the parent who may make appointments with a primary physician. Ms. Beveridge runs our specialty clinics. These clinics are ophthalmology, orthopedics, gastrointestinal and neurology. Students attend these clinics at the request of their parents.
