SUMMARY:  With supervision, provides assessment, treatment, and consultation for language, communication, and feeding impairments as a member of an interdisciplinary team.

 

 

Essential Functions:

1.   Conducts speech/language assessments.                                                                

2.   Manages a clinical caseload providing treatments, maintaining records,

      and participating in interdisciplinary programming.                                                      

3.   Provides consultation to staff, parents, and community based

      professionals                                                                                                                      

4.   Monitors the implementation of program plans.                                                          

5.   Designs, fabricates as necessary, updates and monitors the use of augmentative

      communication systems.                                                                                            

6.   Continues professional development and education.

 

Work Schedule: 35 or 17 daytime hours, Monday through Friday, with a daily one hour unpaid lunch.  Additional time and flextime scheduling may be required for job completion.  This position has an annual ten-month schedule.

 

Qualifications:

1.   Comprehensive knowledge of normal/abnormal language development, oral motor function/dysfunction, and treatment techniques which meet professional standards of practice.

2.   Comprehensive knowledge of augmentative communication.

3.   General knowledge of disabling childhood conditions such as cognitive, development, mental retardation, cerebral palsy, hearing impairment, and learning disabilities and their impact on communication abilities.

4.   Comprehensive knowledge of appropriate evaluative techniques with severely disabled children.

5.   Certified or clinical fellowship year candidate for certification by American Speech-Language and Hearing Association; certification eligibility by MSDE; licensure by Maryland State Board of Examiners in Speech-Language Pathology.
