Ways to Give to The Maryland School for the Blind
There are many ways to participate in The Maryland School for the Blind’s capital, endowment, and annual giving programs.
The best way to make a difference in the lives of children in Maryland who are blind or visually impaired, including those with multiple disabilities, is to invest in The Maryland School for the Blind (MSB). Your contribution allows MSB to continue its tradition of excellence in serving students in every county of the state by providing dozens of programs and services. Without your help, this would not be possible.
Outright Gifts
The Maryland School for the Blind welcomes contributions by cash, check, on-line through our secure on-line account or through credit cards. Outright gifts entitle the donor to an income tax deduction in the year of the gift. All contributions receive a letter of acknowledgement. Matching Gifts
Many companies offer matching gift programs that will double and even triple your donation’s value. Please check with your personnel administrator to find out if your company will match your contribution to The Maryland School for the Blind.
Gifts of Stock and Securities
Gifts of stock and securities may be made through the Development Office. Stock gifts receive tax credit based on the mean price per share on the date of transfer. To ensure prompt valuation and acknowledgement of your donation, please contact the Development Office at 410-444-5000, ext. 1207.
Designate United Way Donations
The Maryland School for the Blind is eligible for United Way funds, because our school is dedicated to the health, well-being, and education of children who are blind or visually impaired. To designate your United Way gift to The Maryland School for the Blind, you must write the school’s designation number (listed below) on the back of your United Way pledge card. Please request an acknowledgement, so we have the opportunity to thank you for your contribution.

Including The Maryland School for the Blind in your will or estate trust are meaningful ways to strengthen the school for future generations. Through The Maryland School for the Blind’s Legacy Society we will recognize those individuals who have chosen to be part of our Planned Giving program.
Endowment and Financial Aid Funds: Gifts in Honor or in Memory
The Maryland School for the Blind’s endowment provides unrestricted and restricted funds for ongoing operational support, professional outreach, and teaching resources. Donors who give $50,000 or more may name a permanently endowed fund in honor or in memory of an individual or individuals including parents, grandparents, alumni, students, teachers, or friends. Gifts to The Maryland School for the Blind Endowment are subject to donor restrictions and to the Board of Trustees spending rule.
