Expanded Core Curriculum
MSB also uses The Expanded Core Curriculum (ECC) for blind and visually impaired students. The ECC is the set of skills that are utilized by students with visual impairments in addition to a core academic curriculum. The ECC should be used as a framework for assessing students, planning individual goals, and providing instruction.
The following areas make up the Expanded Core Curriculum:
-Compensatory or functional academic skills, including communication modes
-Orientation and mobility
-Social interaction skills
-Independent living skills
-Recreation and leisure skills
-Career education
-Use of assistive technology
-Sensory efficiency skills
-Self-determination
