Valuable work experience for the future

At The Maryland School for the Blind, we want our students to have every possible opportunity to be successful once they graduate.

The Career Education Department provides students with job training that will prepare them for today’s workforce. Students not only learn valuable work skills and a sense of responsibility, but they also develop time management, money management, self help, mobility and social skills. Career Ed. is an intrinsic part of our students' education. The Career Ed. staff works closely with staff, students and businesses to provide the best possible work experience for everyone involved.

Students receive training both on- and off-campus at a wide range of jobs. Our goal is to train students on campus in order to provide success for when they are placed off campus. We work very closely with employers in the community to identify the skills that they need from an employee. When our students are placed in an off-campus position, they are supported by a job coach who is responsible for ensuring their success on the job.

We are always looking for new partnership opportunities to connect with businesses and potential employers!
